Future plan
District Government Public Library, Jhalokathi wants to play a role as an ideal institution for building a knowledge-based and science-based modern society. To build Bangladesh free from terrorism, drugs, corruption and militancy, libraries must be self-sufficient. District Government Public Library, Jhalokathi is working on several future plans to meet that demand.
Serial Plans Details
1.
 Building Extension
 Upward expansion of single storied public library building is required to meet the demand of time and readership. Directorate of public library has taken up the project for the purpose of construction of three storied building. If this is possible it will be possible to have a self-contained indoor games center, ICT center, separate reading rooms for children and magazines and periodicals. A modern auditorium is also planned.
2.
 Digital Library
 There are plans to turn public libraries into digital libraries through automation. The overall functioning of the library will be done through an “automation software”. The library also plans to join international consortia to collect millions of journals and books.
3.
 Use of ICT
 There are plans to have a self-contained ICT corner with computers, printers and photocopiers. Along with that, the project to improve the overall environment of the public library with air conditioning system will be taken up very soon.
4.
 New Competitions
 There are plans to organize educational institution based debates, quiz competitions to encourage the students of the district, standardize education and create an environment of healthy competition with the students. If it is possible to organize such competitions on union, upazila and district basis, the quality of education in Jhalokathi district will increase as well as interest will be created among the students along with the educational institutions. There are also plans to organize film screenings and seminars/workshops.
5.
 Children's Corner Modernization
 There are plans to furnish the existing children's corner with air-conditioning. There will be computer, tablet and puzzle games and modern reading materials suitable for children.
6.
 Beautification of Library Campus
 There are plans to increase universal accessibility of the library campus with flower gardens, seating arrangements. A public library can be an ideal place not only for reading but also for quiet time.
